A JOURNEY THROUGH MARRAKECH · DADES · SAHARADepart Marrakech at 08:00 for Ouarzazate, with views of Berber villages and snow-capped peaks. At Aït Benhaddou, cross the river with your guide to explore the ksar; climb the hill optionally for views over the fertile valley and its desert surroundings. Visit a cinema studio with sets used in Hollywood films, then travel through a scenic valley to Dades Gorge. Overnight in a traditional hotel.
Drive through Dades Valley Berber villages and stop near a popular rock-climbing area. Inside the gorge, admire tall gray and pink cliffs and take a walk along the 300-metre-high canyons. After lunch, continue via Erfoud and Rissani to Merzouga. Ride camels across the dunes to a Sahara camp in Erg Chebbi, try sandboarding, watch the sunset and spend the night among the dunes.
Wake early to watch sunrise over the dunes, then return by camel. Have breakfast and a shower at the hotel before driving through the Draa Valley. Stop for lunch in Nkob, then cross small villages and the High Atlas on the return to Marrakech, arriving in the evening.
